LEGO SUPER HEROES Spider-Man set coming!

One set LEGO Super Heroes fans have been waiting for is the #6873 LEGO Super Heroes Spider-Man’s Doc Ock Ambush. This newest addition to the LEGO Super Heroes line is scheduled for release in August, however Wal-Mart started listing them for sale early. It is currently shown as out of stock on their website (wasn’t available for long!), however they do have some great images I thought to share with you. 🙄

Here is the description of the LEGO Super Heroes Spider-Man set: Scheming Doctor Octopus has captured Iron Fist and is conducting experiments on him, trying to steal his superpowers. Help Spider-Man sneak in through the air-vent and swoop down on Doc Ock to release Iron Fist! Then stop the wicked doctor from fleeing on his missile-firing car!

And here are some of the features of the LEGO Spider-Man set:

  • Doc Ock’s lab features a containment cell, examination-table and air-vent shaft.
  • Doc Ock’s car features a rotating seat, spinning octopus arm-attachment and flick-missiles.
  • Doctor Octopus comes with the detachable, poseable octopus-arms, and you can also attach the octopus-arms to his car for a spin-attack.
  • Includes 3 minifigures: Spider-Man, Iron Fist and Doctor Octopus
  • The set comes with 295 pieces and listed at $29.97 at Wal-Mart’s website.

And here are the three minifigures from the Spider-Man set:

As you probably know, this is not the first time LEGO tackled the Spider-Man theme. There were several LEGO Spider-Man sets released between 2002 and 2004, featuring both Spider-Man and Doc Ock. You can check out the previous LEGO Spider-Man sets here: LEGO Spider-Man Sets

Here is a comparison picture of the LEGO Spider-Man through the years. The first version on the left is the original LEGO Spider-Man from 2003, the middle one is the second version from 2004-2005 (identical to the first version in every way, except for the dark-blue color). On the right is the new LEGO Spider-Man. As you can see; he got redesigned quite a bit, with larger eyes, black spider-webs instead of silver, a smaller spider on his chest, and his belt is now printed on his torso, instead of on the hips. And he got back the original blue color, which I’m happy about. 🙂

So, how do you like the new LEGO Super Heroes Spider-Man set? And what about the minifigs? I like the new Doc Ock better than the original, and I like Spider-Man too, except for his eyes. I think they are a bit too big. Also, I liked the printed belt on the original versions. Iron Fist is a new minifig, and he looks great in my opinion. For a recent class-project at Staffordshire University in the UK, students have created several computer-graphic LEGO films. They are really amazing so I thought to share them with you here. Enjoy! 😛

The academic team project to create the LEGO films, spanned 12 weeks, representing approx 1000 hours work, or approx 120-160 hours per person, and one quarter of the student’s final semester workload.

The first LEGO film is based on the exciting science-fiction movie Inception. Students working on the project exhibited fantastic team work, great technical solutions and professional approach throughout. This LEGO film is the work of Visual Effects and Concept Design students; Pedrom Dadgostar, Hollie Price, Jack Milton, Simon Stirrup, Sam Serridge, Jack Bosworth, and Sidney Thibault.

The second LEGO film recreates scenes from the action-film based on the history of Sparta called 300. It’s a visually beautiful LEGO film that remains true to the effects of the original movie. This LEGO film was the work of Jason Bridnley, Adam Cini, Lisa Fearns, Wesley Diggory, Dale Ditchburn, and Harwen Singh, with some supporting animation for the cliff-scene by Animation student, Ryan Shaw.

The third LEGO film created by the students is based on the science-fiction action comedy film Men in Black (MIB). The students involved with creating this LEGO film were Ben Nixon, Dean Goodwin, Hannah Waring, Richard Hulme, Tom Simpson, Daniel Byrne and Nathan Parish. They did an excellent job as well.

What do you think of the LEGO films created by these students? Which one is your favorite? Share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below! 😉
