In 2014 over 120 new part designs were created for LEGO sets. That’s a huge amount! I did not have a chance to write about those, but I would like to cover what’s coming next year as far as new LEGO elements – at least the ones we already know about. So let’s take a look and discuss the new pieces created for 2015 LEGO sets! 🙂

So far, I’ve managed to identify around 18 new pieces coming in 2015. Not very many compared to this year, is it? Note that this number doesn’t include LEGO DUPLO elements, new printings, or minifig parts. The new parts will be shown in a list containing my guess at their part names, the color(s) they appear in, and the sets I have found them in so far. I’ve included images of 2015 sets the new parts appear in to give an idea of what they look like. Also, note that as we get more new set images for 2015, the number of sets these pieces are included in will likely increase.

➡ Plate 2X6 W. 2 Bows – This is quite a nice piece, and looks useful for creating smooth bends on a car. Hence its usage on three of the new Speed Champions sets: the #75899 LEGO Speed Champions LaFerrari, the #75908 LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, and the #75910 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 918 Spyder. So far it comes in medium-stone-gray and black, and it’s easiest seen at the front and back of the #75910 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 918 Spyder.

➡ Plate 1×2 w/ 1 Hole Underneath – This was a tricky one to identify, as I found it hidden on the #75076 LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship, and only a search for it elsewhere led to identification. So far it only comes in medium-stone-gray, and appears in three sets: the #75075 LEGO Star Wars Microfighters AT-AT, the #75076 LEGO Star Wars Microfighters Republic Gunship, and the #42031 LEGO Technic Cherry Picker. It’s easiest seen on the #75075 LEGO Star Wars AT-AT, as it holds on the legs.

➡ Windscreen 4X6X1 – This is a neat windshield piece, in the usual transparent-brown color. It is used on three of the LEGO Speed Champions sets; the #75899 LEGO Speed Champions LaFerrari, the #75908 LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, and the #75909 LEGO Speed Champions McLaren P1. It also appears on the #60085 LEGO City 4×4 with Powerboat. Another new piece similar to this one is the Windscreen 4X5X1 1/3, also in transparent-brown, that appears in two LEGO Speed Champions sets: the #75910 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 918 Spyder and the #75912 LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 911 GT Finishing Line.

➡ Peg Bush 1M – I must thank someone over at Brickset for pointing out this piece in the #70170 LEGO Ultra Agents UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter set. LEGO Technic builders have had a need for this kind of part, so it’s good to finally get it. It comes in dark-stone-gray, and so far appears in the above mentioned LEGO Ultra Agents set – though it’s no doubt there in other 2015 LEGO Technic sets, just not visible on the pictures we have so far.

➡ Panel 5X9 W. Angle, Holes – This is a relatively easy piece to spot as it is quite large; you can find it in yellow on the #42035 LEGO Technic Mining Truck as the sides of the truck-bed (the large angled pieces). It’s nothing too fancy, but still neat.

➡ Blade w/ Shaft Ø3.2 – This is a interesting piece that seems to be important in the LEGO Ninjago world, as the Ninja are after them in the #70752 LEGO Ninjago Jungle Trap, #70753 LEGO Ninjago Lava Falls, #70754 LEGO Ninjago Electromech, and #70755 LEGO Ninjago Jungle Raider sets. I’m not sure on what color it is, but my guess is trans-green.

➡ Feather 5M W Ø3.2 Shaft – Another blade-like part in flame-yellowish-orange that seems to be good as either décor or a weapon. It comes in #70221 LEGO Legends of Chima Flinx’s Ultimate Phoenix and #70223 LEGO Legends of Chima Ice Bite’s Claw Driller.

➡ Motorcycle Fairing 2 – This is like the Motorcycle Fairing pieces we’ve been seeing in LEGO City a lot, but the front is completely redesigned to be more streamlined. It comes in bright-red in the #60084 LEGO City Racing Bike Transporter, with stickers on the sides.

And that concludes nine of the current eighteen new LEGO elements for 2015 (we will discuss the other ones in Part 2 of this article). As we get more images of new sets, we’ll likely see these pieces elsewhere, and possibly in better view.
