Here is another fun LEGO stop-motion video by our favorite animators, the BrotherhoodWorkshop, along with a great behind-the-scenes tutorial on how the video was made. If you are a regular reader here you know that the BrotherhoodWorkshop is well known for their excellent brickfilms and tutorials (see links to their other videos at the end of this post), and we like to share with you as many as we can. 🙂
This video is titled LEGO Star Wars: R2-D2 Unrestrained, and is an alternate version of the story from Star Wars where R2-D2 gets captured by the Jawas. In this version the Jawas get more than what they bargained for when they attempt to kidnap the lone droid in the desert. Our little friend was caught in a bad mood and won’t take any interruption lightly…
Funny, isn’t it? Besides the great animation and humor, an interesting aspect of this film is that it is a sponsored video. The BrotherHoodWorkshop has been doing such an amazing job that now many of their videos are sponsored by various companies (including LEGO). This particular video was sponsored by VideoBlocks.com, an online company that specializes in royalty-free stock footage (both video and images) that designers, and animators can use in their work. Kevin himself uses the services of VideoBlocks, and in the tutorial below he shares how he incorporates stock images and effects in his videos.
So what do you think? How did you like this LEGO stop-motion video? And what you do think of the tutorial? Did you find it helpful? Do you do LEGO animation yourself? Have you used stock footage before in your brickfilms or photos? Feel free to share your thoughts and own experiences in the comment section below! 😉

Yeah, that was funny! Nice to have you over, BTW – haven’t seen you for a while. So much awesomeness in coming in Ninjago though, so we should have plenty to talk about soon. 😀
Yeah, I’ve been kinda busy lately, so haven’t been commenting much. but yeah, can’t wait for all the awesome stuff coming up 🙂
I can understand that. I have been having a really busy year too. But there is always room for Ninjago! 😀
Yep, the new sets will get a lot of buzz here do doubt!
